Pedro's Elite Cyclocross Team

2010 season is in the books!

Prior to the 2010 cyclocross season, Pedro's announced its return to racing, starting with the debut of the Pedro's Elite Cyclocross team. The new team - similar to past Pedro's grassroots programs featured team members David Wilcox, Dylan McNicholas, Jeff Bramhall, Josh Lehmann, Matt Simpson, and Rebecca Wellons. Taking aim at respected races around the country and Cyclocross Nationals in December, here'show it all turned out.

David Wilcox - David captured five top-10 placings in the elite field, including a season high: 2nd place finish at the West Hills Cyclocross in Vt. He has also hit a couple of very impressive top 20s including the Providence UCI Cyclocross Fest.

Dylan McNicholas - Dylan was this season's revelation in the elite field. Scoring four wins and surprising the heavily stacked field in Gloucester with back-to-back 12th place finishes against the top 'cross racers in the country.

Josh Lehmann - 2010 was just as successful as 2009 for Josh. With a couple of top-10 finishes already, Josh found his legs and his way through the elite field.

Rebecca Wellons - Six top 10s in just eleven starts in the women's elite field! She just missed the top 10 both days of the Cycle-Smart International (12th on Sat, 11th on Sun) and a top 20 at Gloucester prove that she's a contender every time she starts.

To support the team and all 'cross competitors, Pedro's lent a hand at CX nationals in Bend, Ore. during December 2010 where Pedro's staffers braved the cold to wash and prep bikes for racers with Green Fizz - the "Official Bike Wash of Cyclocross Nationals" and Syn Lube - the "Offical Lube of Cyclocross Nationals."

If you remember, it all began in 1989 with Syn Lube. One of the Pedro's founders' brother, Phil, a tribologist (one who studies the science of lube), discovered a synthetic automotive lube that - if he could alter the lube's chemistry a bit - he thought it might make a good lube for his mountain biker brother. The resulting formula became Pedro's flagship product, named "Syn Lube" as a play-upon-words borrowed from another product of the time, Mr. Zog's Sex Wax. Syn Lube started showing up at every mountain bike event within a day's drive or less from Pedro's HQ in Providence, RI. Now Syn Lube and its refined formula can be found in riding environments as diverse as Adelaide and Alberta to Whistler and Fort William, and everywhere in between.

Pedro's will be expanding the program in 2011 to include both road and off-road disciplines.
